Hey nice costume want to come with us?” He did go with them! They go to many different houses with their new friend. Suddenly some kids roll up and say “HAND IT OVER”. They don't hand it over. “RIP OFF THEIR SILLY MASKS” the said. They ripped off the dogs mask, then their new friend… THEIR FRIEND IS A DINOSAUR! Horrible Histories: The Terrible Tudors by Terry Deary Reviewed by Vincent A. CPS Today, we're going back in history to England, not the UK, England. Specifically we're going to be looking at the beginning of The Tudors. Obviously I don't want to tell you everything, but the Tudor's were the ruling family of England from the Fifteenth Century to the early Seventeenth Century. This book is one of the Horrible History books which connects to the show. I like this book because it contains a good amount of history and humour and stories from the time and everything during the Tudor times. I would say this is for ages 10+ (the only reason is because of some interesting points in the book including sports and others). I rate this book 9 out of 10. The Bad Guys in One Last Thing by Aaron Blabey Reviewed by Vincent A. CPS Today, we are going to review a book from one of the greatest author's who has made some of the best book series ever (in my humble opinion). Also, I do write this review with a heavy heart... whilst this is an exciting book, this is book 20 and from what we know this is the last installment in the Bad Guys series. I have been reading Bad Guys since I was five (I got book 20 this week and have already read it twice). My favourite character in the series is piranha, he's always been impatient and his good role in book four or five (very hilarious). As this book has recently been released, I will avoid any spoilers. What I can say, is this book has a theme of normal stuff I would expect from this series. Although I am sad that series will no longer continue, I think this is a good end of the series. I would say the age ratings are 6+. I rate this book and the whole series 20,000,000,000,000 out of 10. Lego Awesome Ideas by Daniel Lipkowitz Reviewed by Will M. However, Fone Bone has a strange dream about being on a boat and when it is destroyed, the dragon pops up from the waves and is titan sized. This book mainly focuses on the rats and "The Hooded One". I like the two rats that have appeared since book one, the brown and purple one, because they feel like comical relief. Smiley Bone has always been my favourite character in the bone series. During this whole book, the Bones are being hunted by the rats. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Some were good but some were just too weird. That brings me to why I didn’t like this book. Some of the characters were too weird, for example one of the characters wanted to steal another girls hair nits another boy wanted to beat a German girl in a booger competition. Pretty weird right? At the end of the book Wizz is around the age of one hundred years old and wants the reader to be his caretaker. I like this story because I like how funny it is and the structure of the book. I would recommend this book for Grade1-3 or six to ten year olds, because at that age kids really enjoy funny texts and pictures. Happy Narwhalidays by Ben Clanton Reviewed by Vincent A. CPS Today we are going under the sea! Happy Narwhalidays is a Narwhal and Jelly book. This book is about Narwhal (who strangely enough is a narwhal) and Jelly who is a sea jelly. This book is equal to Christmas in the narwhal calendar. This book is made of short chapters which are slightly different than our Christmas. We're introduced to a few different characters though out the way (including the Merry Mermicorn, which seems to be the underwater version of Santa). My favorite part of the book is the Merry Mermicorn lyrics at the back. I also like the whacky interactions with Narwhal and Jelly. CPS Today we are going into a world of adventure. The book I'm going to be reviewing today is quote, "A silent but deadly adventure". Fart Quest is the first book in this series and gives a lot of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) vibes. We are introduced to Fart, a Mage, Pan, an elven sorcerer and Moxxie, a fighting dwarf. Our band of heroes commence their journey after their master's disappearance. Thus, our heroes embark on a inspiring adventure which includes funny fights against monsters and villains which strangely continue the D&D vibe. Obviously I love the fart humor. Warning: this is a chapter book with a fair amount of words, having said that there are enough pictures to keep it interesting. I recommend this book for people who love fantasy, adventure, farts and a touch of humor. I would say this is for ages 9+. I rate this 9 out of 10. While Rock is at the farm having the time of his life, Grandpouter comes down from the sky and asks Rock if he wants to fight crime and solve mysteries. Although reluctant at first, Grandpouter convinces him by allowing him options and Rock accepts, they meet the rest of them team. After solving the case, Rock accepts to join the team. The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt Reviewed by Peter Y. YPCC Duncan wanted to take out his crayons, but he couldn’t find them. Then he found some cards with his name on them. The first card was the red crayon’s card. He was really tired because Duncan uses him a lot and he wants a break. Next was the purple crayon’s card. He was mad at Duncan because he wasn’t colouring in the lines, and if he wasn’t going to colour in the lines he was going to lose it! Now Beige is complaining because he gets called Dark tan and Light brown and he barely gets used. The only times he gets used is for doing turkeys, (if he’s lucky) and wheat. Now white is complaining because he gets used on white paper even though you can’t see it. He wouldn’t even see white if he didn’t have a black outline near the edge. Black crayon is complaining because he only gets used for the outline. Black crayon wants black rainbows and black beachballs for once. Green crayon is complaining about one thing and there’s good news also, the good news is that he likes being used for a lot of stuff! The bad news is that he’s complaining about orange crayon and yellow crayon fighting about who’s the colour of the sun. Yellow crayon is complaining because of orange crayon saying he’s the colour of the sun, and yellow says he’s the colour of the sun. He says that because in happy farm yellow is the sun. Orange crayon is here because yellow says he’s the colour of the sun but orange thinks yellow isn’t the colour of the sun, he thinks he’s the colour though. He says he is because he was the sun on Meet the Zookeeper and Monkey Island in his colouring Day at the Zoo booklet. Blue crayon isn’t happy because he is being used for everything, and he enjoys it. Unfortunately he is so stubby he cant even see over the railing in the crayon box. He needs a break! Pink is angry because she only gets used for princesses, she wants to be used for dinosaurs, cowboys and monsters. Peach crayon is mad because Duncan peeled his paper wrapping off. He needs some help he is so scared to get out of the box because he has no wrapping on. Duncan was very sad now that he couldn’t colour, and he wanted his crayons to be happy! So he used all the crayons to make an amazing picture and his teacher gave him a good work sticker. I recommend it to ages 3-14 because I think it would be a really good book for them. I rate this book a 9.7/10 because I really liked the ending because he makes it up to every crayon. There's a Big Green Frog in the Toilet by Anh Do Reviewed by C-Jai B. Wings of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy by Tui Sutherland Reviewed by Isabelle M. BPS Five Dragonets are born to end a war. 18 years into the war the Dragonets of the prophecy are training to end the war. This story is told from Clay’s point of view. The Dragonets Clay grew up with are Tsunami who is a Seawing, Sunny who is a Sandwing (although she looks different and a little weird), Starflight who is a Nightwing and Glory who is a Rainwing. Queen Oasis, Queen of the Sandwings, died around 20 years ago, leaving her three daughters, Burn, Blister and Blaze, to duel for the throne. They each choose alliances. Burn was allied with the Queen Scarlet and the Skywings and Queen Moorhen and the Mudwings. Blister had an alliance with Queen Coral and the Seawings and maybe a secret alliance… Blaze has an ally in Queen Glacier and most of the Sandwings. The Nightwings and Rainwings are not involved for two very different reasons. The Nightwings are not involved because they are all-powerful and all-knowing. The Rainwings are apparently lazy and stupid. Glory isn’t supposed to be in the prophecy. It’s supposed to be a Skywing. When the Dragonets escape, they find out that they just walked straight into the talons of Queen Scarlet one of the most dangerous, beautiful dragons ever. She has ruled for over 30 years undefeated. Can they escape and fulfil the prophecy? I love the Wings of Fire series and so does my sister (she also did a book review on this book). I recommend this book to year 3+ that enjoy fantasy. If that doesn't make sense at the end of this book it will. This book is about Timmy, the once most famous pony. But things haven't gone so well for him. This whole series had me laughing because of farts. I love the storyline and I love Timmy the Ticked-Off Pony. I won't say anything else or I may spoil the storyline. I would say this is for 6+. Perhaps don't read this book if fart jokes aren't your cup of tea (which I don't know who would drink tea with farts). I rate this 9.5 out of 10. Wurrtoo: The Wombat who Fell in Love with the Sky by Tylissa Elisara Reviewed by Vincent A. CPS I'm going to review a story about a wombat who fell in love with the sky (not a romance book). We begin in a burrow, the fifty-fifth burrow of Bushland Avenue, Kangaroo Island to be exact. Our hero, Wurrtoo, put's out a tree that was on fire near his burrow. After getting back home from that adventure, someone knocks on his door and he finds a note on his doorstep and a koala hanging on the doorframe, we are then introduced to Kuula, a koala, who is NOT a morning koala at all. Kuula had lived in the tree that had been on fire and she thinks Wurrtoo is a hero. Wurrtoo wants to go onto the main land and find the forest of dreaming so he can marry the sky (still not a romance book). Kuula agrees to go with him on his journey. But during this long and perilous trip, there are many challenges and dangers along the way. They travel through forests and a swamp where they get a canoe from Auntie Swan. Whilst they are paddling through the swamp they encounter a moving rock that is in the way of their canoe and it moves out of the water to reveal a humongous yet disgusting creature known as the Yamuti which chases them until they climb a tree and the Yamuti bites the tree as it squeals in pain and runs away, but Kuula explains the story of the Yamuti to Wurrtoo. As we get beyond the swamp the friends run into bush hogs who capture our hero's and attempt to sacrifice them. The friends start screaming loudly and it attracts the Yamuti causing confusion and panic, allowing our friends to escape. After this narrow escape Kuula wants to go home with Wurrtoo as it was so dangerous to continue but Wurrtoo is determined to continue the journey to marry the sky. Kuula sadly heads home on the canoe and Wurrtoo continues his journey forward. During his journey Wurrtoo is taken care of by two wallabies and after going to the forest of dreaming, he realised he should go back to Kangaroo Island knowing that his friend needed him. A woman who was basically the sky, comes down and picks him up and takes him back to the island. Upon returning to his home he finds out that his Avenue was burnt down whilst he was away on his great journey. Wurrtoo looks for Kuula and finds her safe. Kuula and Wurrtoo hug in relief and happiness. They gift each other a stone to remember their journey by. I would say this is for 10+. I rate this 9.5 out of 10.
