Cristiano Ronaldo by George Maudsley

Cristiano Ronaldo by George Maudsley is a compelling, kindhearted, and factual biography about the champion soccer player, Cristiano Ronaldo. The book follows Cristiano from being a skinny kid who adores football and dreams of playing in huge stadiums packed with fans, to becoming an amazing soccer player who has nearly won everything there is to win, including the Ballon d'Or, Golden Boot, Premier League title, La Liga title, World Cup, and more. He is a true champion. “And Ronaldo scores again!” I selected this book because of its unique front cover with symmetric features, and it didn’t disappoint. It was a real page-turner that I really enjoyed reading. It was great for passing the time when I woke up early in the morning and after school.
I highly recommend this book to sports lovers who are looking for an inspiring read aged around 9-15 years old.
I rate this book a solid 9.4/10.

Do Not Open This Book by Andy Lee

In Do Not Open this Book by Andy Lee, a blue monster named Wizz keeps warning you not to open the book and turn the pages, but you can't resist! Every page holds funny surprises, even though Wizz keeps trying to stop you.
As the book says, "Whatever you do, please don't turn the page."—but that's exactly why you want to keep going!
I really enjoyed this book. Although it's probably aimed at younger readers, I still found it hilarious, engaging, and interactive.
I recommend this book for grades 1 through 5 because of its humour, interactive storytelling, and the way it keeps young readers engaged with surprises on every page!
I rate this book a 7.8/10.

Hamlet: A Shakespeare Story by Andrew Matthews

Hamlet is about a boy named Hamlet whose father was poisoned mysteriously.
Hamlet was determined to figure out who poisoned his father so he could avenge him, even if it cost his life.
I highly recommend this book it is a very well put story about a boy who avenges his father.
I give it a 9/10!

The Bugalugs Bum Thief by Tim Winton

This book is about a boy called Skeeta Anderson who woke up and his bum was gone. Not one person had a bum.
Skeeta went to the butcher because the butcher was trying to sell his bum as rump steak.
My favourite part was when the boy Skeeta Anderson woke up with no bum! I also liked when the dog was chasing Skeeta because his bum was gone.
I would recommend this series of books to people who need a laugh and are in year 2 and up!
I rate this book 10/10!

Pete Cromer: Australia by Pete Cromer

This is a picture book that is about different types of Australian animals in the Australian bush. The Australian bush has so many different types of animals.
Pete Cromer is an artist who gives a short description on some Australian animals followed by his own artwork of it.
My favourite part was getting to know all of the different types of cockatoos. There are over 10 different types. I love cockatoos, they are so cute.
I would recommend this book to year 3 and over because younger students may not be able to read the hard words, but they would like to read it with a grown up or older kids. I liked the book it was great. I love animals.

Skydragon by Anh Do

This book was about a nine year old girl called Amber. She lives with her mum and loves bugs.
She made pizza with her mum and gets powers from a meteor. The meteor crashes into her house. Her dad saw the meteor coming towards their house and shouted look out!
After the meteor strike, Amber was taken to the hospital. The powers Amber got were that she could talk to bugs. This strengthened her connection and love of bugs.
My favourite part is when she gets her power because a meteor hit her house. She can control all kinds of bugs, from flying insects and ones that can’t fly.
A few years later she makes a friends called Justin. He is great because he helps her stay safe from the bullies.
She fights a super evil villain called Ferris.
I recommend this book for Year 3 and up because there are some tricky words in it and for people love insects and have a passion for Ahn Do. books.
I rate this book 10/10. 

Bear in Space by Deborah Abela

The book was about a bear who got bullied, teased and called names. The other bears would shout and run around, but the main bear preferred the quiet. He was also lonely. The bear only had his dog and his rockets.
He then he decided to build his own rocket ship. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 BLAST OFF! He went off to space. In space he spotted in something in the distance, it was a space ship. Bear welcomed him inside his space ship. They had hot choclate, said facts about space, and more.
My favourite part is all the facts in the book, because I learnt a lot about space. I liked how the bear, dog and panda worked together.
I would recommend the book to prep to Year 4. It is better to younger people because it is very childish.
​I give it a 6/10, it was not the best book ever and it’s not the worst book ever.

The Burnt Stick by Anthony Hill

The Burnt Stick is a short book with pictures. In the book a boy is stolen by the white men during the Stolen Generation. His mother was really smart and used a stick from the ashes of a fire as a disguise to stop the white men from taking him from her.
This book was really sad because you relive the stolen generation from the boy's memory and eyes.
I recommend this book to people in the age groups of 7 to 10.
I rate this book a 5/10 because it’s teaching us about the mistakes made back then.

The Most Boring Book in the World by Charlie Leahy

The most boring book in the world is about it trying to be boring, but funny things keep coming up.
I recommend this book to Years 3 to 6.
It’s a good book. I rate it a 6/10.

Tigg and the Bandicoot Bushranger by Jackie French

Tigg and the Bandicoot Bushranger is a really good book to read.
It is about them coming from South Australia to Ballarat, Victoria.
On the back of the book it says who is Tigg? And to be safe, Tigg solved the greatest mystery of all.
I have a connection with this story because I have just moved from Western Australia. It makes me feel like I’m in the book.
I recommend this book for ages 10+.

Science FACTopia! by Rose Davidson

This book is about heaps of scientific facts that teleport you to different parts of the world and centuries.
If you were to read this book I think you would like it because it is really interesting and also you get to see how the world was centuries ago.
It can also tell you about what animals will go extinct and how animals looked ages ago.
If you like science and facts these two together will make you mind go BOOM! like it did to mine.
I recommend the ages 8 to 15.
I rate it a 10/10. I really like it.

Love from the Crayons by Drew Daywalt

Love from the Crayons is telling me that love isn’t one colour. It’s all the colours.
My favorite part was when the rainbow crayon came out at the end.
I would recommend this book to my brother because he is 11.
I rate it of 9 out of 10. 

The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt

In The Day the Crayons Quit, all the crayons wrote Duncan a letter and orange and yellow were arguing over what color the sun was. Orange said that it was orange but Yellow said it was yellow. Green said it’s both colors.
It is very good. I love how Duncan never used the pink crayon and his little sister did. I like how Duncan ripped the skin-colored paper off.
I recommend it for young ones aged 1-12 because it is very funny.
I rate this book an 9/10 and I really hope you like it.



Ninja Girl by Anh Do

Niki is a girl who lives with her parents and her cat. One day her cat Connor was hurt after he jumped into her school bag and she unknowingly took it to school.
At school the cat got out of the bag and he caused some mischief. As he was being chased by the security guard, some gems and glass broke and Connor had to tiptoe through the mess but unfortunately he got scratched. He had to be taken to the vet and he had to stay there as they weren’t sure what had gone wrong from him getting scratched.
Niki felt sad about Connor. It was while Connor was still at the vets that Niki found out that she was adopted.
If you want to know how Niki discovers she’s a Ninja, you'll need to read the book!
I recommend it for 8+
I rate it a 9/10.

Pig the Pug by Aaron Blabey

It’s a really funny book and I like the part where Pig won’t share his toys or play with the other dogs.
Trevor the sausage dog tries to be nice to him but Pig thinks that the other dog wants his toys so he refuses to share or be nice.
That is until Pig falls out of the window and finds out he can’t fly.
I recommend it to kids aged 5-10.
I rate it 10/10.

Ella and Olivia by Yvette Poshoglian

Ella has a bff named Zoe. Zoe is a horse rider.
Zoe invites Ella to watch her competition. Little did she know there was a surprise waiting for her.
I recommend this to people that read Ella & Olivia or people that like drama.
I rate this a solid 9/10.

Hide the kids! The settlement is here! Follow the rabbit proof fence is a book/movie that was based off of a true story.
Three sisters, Molly, Gracie and Daisy got taken away from their home in Jigalong. They were taken away to a settlement in Perth. From there they were scared and wanted to go home.
Two days into the settlement there was a massive rain cloud. Molly the oldest, she said “We are leaving let’s go”. They made it out of there, just to realise that it would only be a hunted chase down from there.
They would hunt down eggs and rabbits and light fires in holes to not get caught.
When Gracie decided that if she left, she would make it home faster. Only to realise that she would get caught.
This book is recommended for ages 11+ because there is some mild language.
I rate this book 9.5/10 because it didn’t really interest me in the start but now it’s got me hooked.

Franks Red Hat by Sean E. Avery

Frank was a penguin that was different than others. He had different ideas then then all of the penguins.
He made a red hat and the other penguins had never seen anything like it before.
Then he gave the hat to Neville, another penguin. When he put it on he got eaten by a killer whale.
After that, all of the penguins were scared of Frank. He got discouraged. The only ones supporting Frank were the seals.
Frank thought and thought and then he came up of the idea to make a scarf. The penguins hated it but the seals loved it.
I liked the storyline but the whale was a bit violent.
I would recommend this book to people that like plot twists

I would rate this book a solid 7/10.

In the beginning of the story, the bionic booger boys Carl, Trixie, and Frankerbooger chased after Mr Krupp, Melvin, Melvins bionic hampster and George and Harold.
This book is about a mean principle named Mr Krupp getting hypnotized and turned into Captain Underpants. 
​I liked this book because it had a lot of sense of humour. I would recommend this book for 8+.
​I would rate this book a 10/10 because everything was neat.

Factopia by Kate Hale

This is an awesome book. It gave me a bunch of facts I never knew.
Did you know the rings on an adult mountain goat horns tell you how old it is?! It gives a wonderland of amazing facts - it gives 400 facts! That’s a lot! The two main categories are science and nature.
 I would recommend this book for anyone who likes to get facts and be smart.
​I would rate his book a 10/10 because of the informational facts.

Wolf won't Bite by Emily Gravett

Wolf won’t bite is a funny & ridiculous story. The pigs can ride him like a horse and Wolf won’t bite.
I recommend this book to people who like silly and weird things and the three little pigs because it’s the opposite of the three little pigs.
I rate this a 10/10 it was silly and ridiculous and very very funny. 


Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is one of my all-time favourites.
It is a very good book. It has just enough mystery and it will get you thinking hard.
Some of my favourite parts are when he enters the Chamber of Secrets and the challenges he has to face along the way.
I recommend this for 10 or 11-year-olds just because of some scenes in the book.
Overall, I think this is an amazing book and I rate it at 9/10 and I’d love to read the rest of her books.

The Island of Lost Horses by Stacy Gregg

The main characters names are Beatriz and Filiper, although they are separated by 500 years of time.
Beatriz finds Filiper's diary and uncovers the secrets to the island, its creatures and the diary.
Beatriz lived with her mum on a boat, because her mum was a marine biologist. Whilst she worked, Beatriz would sneak off to explore the island.
I thought that the book was really great. I especially liked how it was a mystery and an adventure. I also really enjoyed how it had one of my favourite animals, horses, in it.
I would recommend this book for people aged 9+ and also for those who like mystery and/or adventure.
I would rate The Island of Lost Horses a 9/10 because it was really great and had me really feeling like I was a part of the book.

Men's Football Legends 2025 by David Ballheimer

Do you have a favourite soccer player? If you don’t, then you need to read this book because there are all fun facts about lots of soccer players. It tells you things like what country they come from or how many goals they have scored.
I like this book because there is so much cool fun facts.
I recommend this book for ages 8 and over.
I rate this book 10/10.

Going Solo by Roald Dahl

Going solo is about Roald Dahl’s life before becoming a famous storyteller. He went to war in Africa, he survived plane crashes and met a lot of new people.
It is a great story for people that like non-fiction books and adventure.
It was awesome to read about Roald Dahl’s younger life because I was excited to learn about his background before becoming a famous novelist. I think kids 9 and older that are experienced readers and like lengthy chapter books would like this.
​My rating of this book is 4/10, because sometimes it got a little flat in some parts and I lost interest in it, although there were some interesting parts in the book.

Look out for Mater by Andrea Posner-Sanchez

This book is about two friends making up their own fun, but then ending up getting in trouble by trespassing in a gravel pit.
I liked it because even when they got in trouble they still worked out a way to get free and worked together as a team.
I recommend this book for people who are good readers that are 9-12.

The Wild Robot by Peter Brown

The Wild Robot is a touching story about a robot named Roz who wakes up on a remote island with no memory of how she arrived.
The robot struggles to adapt to her new surroundings, but over time, she learns the language of the animals and begins to understand their ways of interacting, until… a disaster strikes, leading to her adopting a new gosling named Brightbill.
This book is probably in my top 3 favourite books I’ve ever read. My favourite part was where Roz adopted her gosling and developed such a close bond with him. It was heartwarming to see her transform from a robot into a caring mother.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys adventure and the outdoors. It’s a great story for animal and robot lovers, with a mix of action and heart. The writing is clear and fun, so it’s a good pick for readers of all levels.
I rate this book 5/5 stars because, to me, it was enormously awesome! WARNING! Once you pick this book up, you won’t put it down for at least another half an hour.

Dog Man: A Tale of Two Kitties by Dav Pilkey

The evil cat, Petey wants a new butler, someone that acts like him, someone that thinks like him.
Flippy the evil, psychokinetic fish was destroyed by Dog Man, but scientists wanted to study his brain. The scientists decide to make him robotic. Flippy then falls in the living spray factory and comes back to life.
I recommend this book for comic lovers and people who are tired with boring words. 
I rate this book a 7/10. I like all of the laughs along the way, but I have read better.

Sweet Valley Twins #1: Best Friends by Francine Pascal

Sweet Valley Twins is a book about two girls called Elizabeth [aka Lizzie] and Jessica [aka Jessie]. Sweet Valley Twins is one of my favourite books now, ever since I heard of them, I am reading the whole series now.
The twins Jess and Liz are always sticking together and never separate and always match all the time. But it changed when Jess found a popular group called the Unicorns and they always talk about boys and gossip and spread rumours around the school and make fun of people.
That wasn’t Jess, but she wanted to have a go and make new friends in middle school because they were new and different to other people. Jess and Liz are now doing different things like changing clothes and hair styles. Jess was really excited to make new friends. Meanwhile Lizzie was just sitting with her new friends Amy and a girl called Lois and she was very shy, she feels like she doesn’t fit in. But Liz comforts her and makes her feel better.
The next day they were eating their dinner and talking about what is going on in school, when they were talking about sports their mum had something to say ‘’talking about sports, you girls are going to do ballet’’.
The girls were very excited and were very happy because when they were younger, they have always wanted to do ballet and their dream came true. My favourite thing about this book is when their brother was embarrassed and annoyed because the girls were snooping in his phone and they saw that there are a lot of drama going on because he had a girlfriend who was the girl in the unicorn club, but they broke up near the end of the book.
I recommend this book for Year 4, my grade, because I don’t think the younger kids would find it interesting and it’s a little inappropriate for younger kids.
​This book is very cool and very fun in times and a little different to other books and it is unique and exiting there are plot twists and drama everywhere in this book. It's also really cool that it's about twins and their family.
I give this book a 10/10 because there are a lot of relatable things in it and a lot of drama

Super Epic Dragon Quest: The Deadly Fang by Adam Wallace

This book is about a kid named Arlo, and back then when it was set there were dragons but now they were scared away by King Bad Dragon.
Arlos’s parents were very mean, but Arlo heard about a trial for people and if they complete it they get to help restore the tickle book.
Arlo and Julia set out to the Invisible Island to retrieve the deadly fang. There was a land shark dragon and when they saw the terrible beast they saw something odd. There was a weird claw. They took a closer look and it wasn’t a claw, it was the deadly fang.
Julia distracted the beast, and Arlo used his useless stick. It turns out it’s not very useless because it got the tooth out. Then the dragon threw it back home and threw them to the next island.
My favourite part was when Arlo completed the trial.
​I recommend it to everyone.

I rate it 10/10.

What Do You Call Your Grandma? by Ashleigh Barton

In this book there kids that call there nan mee-maw or Nonna and more there this is a very good book to read.
I like the book a lot and I have the exact same copy of the book at home. This book has a very good connection with me and my nanny.
I recommend this for 3+.

Butt Out! by Heath McKenzie

Butt out is about a baboon showing its baboon butt and kept flashing other animals, like a rhino, a goat mother, and a giraffe.
Everyone gets in a protest to tell him to put pants back on so he does, but he rips out the back of the pants.
I recommend it to ages 3-9.
I rate a 6/10.

Gross Factopia by Paige Towler

This book is about 400 gross facts and it had funny, disgusting, gross stuff, like hippopotamuses spin their tails while poo, a lost cow who was unharmed in a village sewer and also interesting things like in 1858, the River Thames in London was clogged with human waste. It smelt so bad that many people left the city-even the Government considered moving.
I liked it. It was interesting because they talked about old time life and animals
The part I didn't like was when they talked about animals that are disgusting and humans in the old times who used eels as money. Which is very disgusting and I don't like that…this book is weird.
This book is just so interesting!
This is for like 5-18 years+ because it has old times stuff so ages 5 to 18 will understand the book and they are gross facts, so ages 5 to 18 is a nice age to read this because it has gross stuff.
I rate it 10/10!

Little White Dogs Can't Jump by Bruce Whatley

The book is about a fat dog that can't jump and has short legs. The problem is he needs to jump and he wants to be a famous playing in basketball.
I liked the book because he is to fat to jump on a tow hook. Who you would recommend the book for? I recommend for 5/10 because it is funny What you would rate the book out of 10? 5/10

The BFG by Roald Dahl

This is a fictional story book about giants and a little girl named Sophie. There are lots of giants in giant country but only ONE nice friendly giant named the BFG. All of the others are taking little children out of there beds and gobbling them up!
Sophie wants to make a plan to stop them gobbling children up. So she goes to the queen of England.
This is a brilliant and thrilling story.
I would recommend this book for people 7-12
I would rate it a 9/10 because there are some things I would change in it.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules by Jeff Kinney

In this book Greg is always getting bossed around by his big brother Rodrick, but on the other hand Greg has to deal with his mum and best friend Rowley.
I like this book because it is so funny and hilarious.
 I recommend this book to 7+.

You Can Draw It! Aircraft by Jon Eppard

This amazing drawing book called You Can Draw It Aircrafts is a step by step book all about aircrafts.
This is not the only book in this series. There are more than 9 books in this series. All these books have a different topic.
In my opinion this aircraft book is the best. I drew a great hot air balloon with real life features.
This book is mainly for 8+ but if you’re a great drawer this book might just be the perfect book.
​I give this book a 9.5 out of 10

The 52-Storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths

This is about two friends named Andy and Terry.
They love their treehouse. It's like they live in it.
They are like two normal friends, but it's like they live together.
This book is so funny and a classic book.
I recommend this book to 10+ because it might be a bit challenging at first, but give it a try.
I would say this book is a 9.2/10.

Taronga Presents: Poo at the Zoo by Kristin Darell

Sophia and Ollie have the best job in the world as zookeepers but only for a day.
Their job is cleaning up all of the poo from all of the animals, which is kind of sad.
I liked this book because it is funny and it has cute animals.
I recommend this book for 8+.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter is a little boy who lives with his uncle Vernon and his aunt Petunia. He also has a very mean cousin Dudley.
The reason he lives with his aunt and uncle is because his mum and dad supposedly died in a car crash. His uncle and aunt never liked Harry. Why? He didn’t do anything wrong other than get dropped off on the doorstep. Maybe his parents did something who knows? They treated his cousin way better. Harry Potter had to sleep in a little closet.
Everything was bad until his 11th birthday. He got accepted into Hogwarts and his uncle and aunt had to tell him the truth about his parents. They were a wizard and a witch and Harry was going to be a young wizard.
He went to Hogwarts and he got really excited. He met a really mean boy named Draco. At least he made friends with Ron and Hermione.
There was a sorting ceremony and he got into Gryffindor. Hooray!
Then he got suspicious of a teacher professor stealing the philosopher's stone but didn't know it was the teacher that he would never suspect.
I recommend you read this book because it has a great mix of mystery and fiction and also suspense, so you never get bored!
I recommend this book for seven-year-olds to 11 Year-olds.
I give this book a 8/10.

Danny the Champion of the World by Roald Dahl

Danny is a young boy with a single dad and he lives in an old rickety caravan. He thinks he has a normal dad but that all changes one night when Danny wakes up in the middle of the night and his dad is nowhere to be found.
When his Dad finally gets home Danny finds out that his father was in Hazel's wood poaching pheasants. Together they try to wipe out all of Mr Hazel’s pheasants before the big shooting.
How will they kill 200 pheasants in only 4 days? Read to find out.
I recommend this book to years 8+.
I rate it 10/10.
​I can’t wait to read another Roald Dahl book.

Reefs and Coast by Discovery

Reefs and Coasts is a bite-size fact book full of cool unique marine animals. This book does a short description of 15 or so animals and has some amazing photographs.
I recommend this book to kids 7+.
I rate it a 7/10.
