Torty and the Soldier by Jennifer Beck

Torty is a tortoise. Stewart is a kiwi soldier. Stewart didn’t want to kill but wanted to do his part for his country, so he enlisted in the ambulance corps. That is when he meets Torty.
This book is a small, heartfelt story that is true to the core. I had a spectacular time reading it.
I would recommend this book to 7-10 year old's. It is a tad too sad and a bit boring for ages over 10.
I would rate this book a 9.9/10, it is an amazing book but just a bit too confusing with events.

This interesting book is about a tortoise named Torty during a war.
The tortoise stumbled across some Kiwi soldiers and the soldiers looked after Torty.
Then Torty got squished like a pancake by the wheels of a cannon. He got saved by the soldiers.
Then the story goes back in time to when they signed up. I found out that they are medics and they lost the tortoise. Soon after the tortoise got saved again.
They went home on a ship and the leader didn't allow animals onboard the ship, but Stewart the soldier didn’t care about it.
When they got back to home, Torty ran away. The police gave up on him. Until a girl found him and Torty got returned to home.
Torty is still alive to today! When Stewart died Torty was upset.
I recommend this book for 6+ because it is about war and it’s a short book. I rate this book a 8.5/10.

When Stewart was helping soldiers, his pet Torty the tortoise came as well, and soldiers loved the tortoise.

This book really caught my interest because the picture book is a true story!
Torty and Stewart have an inseparable bond.
This book includes war, history, friendships and at the end it shows a photo of Torty before he passed away, although Stewart died before Torty. Stewart’s family took care of Torty. Torty isn’t alive anymore either.
I would recommend this book to those like history, war and friendships.
I would give this book a 9.5 out of 10 it mainly talks about how Torty survived while he was in hibernation and how he wasn’t allowed on the war boat and all sorts.

Super Epic Dragon quest written by Adam Wallace is a book series with 3 different books and a whole lot of adventure.
It is about a long time ago in Ticklebrook, where it used to be filled with all kinds of dragons. There was one super powerful dragon that powers the entire town.
The main thing about Ticklebrook is it's lemonade waterfall, a stone in the shape of a dragon that lemonade comes out of and into a pond.
One day the dragon went missing and the lemonade fall stopped and all the dragons went away. The queen found a book on how to bring back a super epic dragon and it said a hero needs to go find all the parts to rebuild one so she let anyone who wanted to do it join.
The problem was that she said they had to beat an obstacle course to join. The first guy failed because his pants got cut. The second person failed because she ate a cabbage and farted but she was in armour, so the fainted because of her own stinky fart. The third and fourth made it through.
Arlo and Julia are the two main characters in this book - they made it and now they have to go on a bunch of different journeys to get all the parts to rebuild the dragon.

Warriors #1: The Prophecies Begin by Erin Hunter

Picture
Reviewed by Georgia H. BuniPS

Warriors is my favourite series, today I’m writing about book one, The Prophecies Begin. It’s about a cat called Rusty who hates being a kitty pet (house cat). He had dream of hunting a mouse and running around free in the wild.
Rusty wakes up and he’s still in his home. He jumps over the fence and meets a wild cat Graypaw who is in the ThunderClan and explains about how wonderful it is in the wild, and Rusty joins him leaving his old life and his old name. His new name is Firepaw because his pelt is like fire.
Other cats bully him because of his old life as a kitty pet. Then he becomes Fireheart ( which is basically a full warrior) and finds a cat in a different clan and brings her in. It turns out she’s Yellowfang the medicine cat of ShadowClan, and they kicked her out.
Fireheart and his friend Graystrip fights the leader of ShadowClan off and he returns to a peaceful clan cat life.
I think this is for 9+ because there’s some death and cats fighting.
I would rate this a 8/10 because sometimes it gets a little confusing but still one of my favourite books! But the books in the series get better and better. Overall it was amazing! And there’s more books to read after this one, and more still coming out.

At the start of my book there are two friends that have been friends for a couple years now, named Pizza and Taco.
They think they're the coolest kids at school because of their backpacks. Pizza has the Freddy Fire Truck backpack with super sirens.
They walk into school and everyone is super excited, but then Taco goes and embarrasses him self so they go to see B.L.T. and show their new back packs, but then Burger goes and tells Pizza his bag is for babies.
Taco stands up for Pizza and then Burger backs down. B.L.T.’s cousin loves the Freddy Show.
Burger goes and tells everyone that their backpacks are lame.
When everyone is laughing the bell went and Pizza and Taco were late so they had to stay in.
They were late to class again. They had to stay behind after school, but after all that happened they go home excited for school the next day.
This book would be for the age of 7-11.
I would rate this book a 7.5/10 because I felt there could be more pages.

When he asks his parents, they tell him he’s a ninja!

This book is about a girl named Emmie and a girl named Katie who are complete opposites.
They cross paths when the clown finds out Emmie’s secret and shares it with the class.

This book is a short, lighthearted, coming of age story that gets better by the minute. Every page is more engaging than the last, and it is about growing up and becoming popular and free!
I would recommend this book to 9-15 year old's because of the coming of age theme and the idea of the book!

This book is an about a girl thinking that she is good at all sports, but then a kangaroo came along to play basketball and the kangaroo was too good for her. When she tried to shoot, the kangaroo kept jumping up and blocking them.
Then she tried to race the emu. When she started, the emu was still stretching, but the emu zoomed past and won the race.
She then tried to play footy with the kangaroo, emu and koala. When she reached for the ball the koala stopped her by climbing up her back and marked it.
She was sad thinking she wasn’t good at any sport, but then kangaroo had a good idea to play soccer.

Keeper of the Lost Cities #2: Exile by Shannon Messenger

Reviewed by Annie M. BPS

This book is about when Sophie, Grady, Dex and Sandor discover a female Alicorn in the forbidden cities while looking for a sasquatch.
Sandor is Sophie’s goblin bodyguard.
Alicorns are the rarest creature on the planet and the elves had only ever found one and it was a male.
The forbidden cities are what elves call the places where humans live.
A sasquatch is what inspired bigfoot.
Sophie can communicate with the female alicorn because she is a telepath and a polyglot. While talking with the alicorn Sophie discovered that she was called Silveny.
My favourite part was when Sophie was riding on Silveny and they landed in a big pile of alicorn poop. Alicorn poop is sparkly. It was very funny.
I recommend the book to kids 8+ who enjoy fantasy, adventure and a tiny bit of drama because it’s a bit scary.
I love this book! I rate it 9/10 stars!

Ming and Flo Fight for the Future by Jackie French

Picture
Reviewed by Tabby H. BPS

Ming and Ada is a book about a girl called Ming. She was at school in the library with some of her friends, Kayla, Tuan her brother, and some of her classmates. The librarian was a mean old grumpy lady, she heard every sound, and even when they were on the other side of the library, you could hear her grumpy old voice “SHHHHHHHH!’’ Not many people liked the librarian.
One of the girls in the library was called Herstory. She had long silver hair, purple joggers, and ice-blue eyes holding an umbrella in her hand. The breeze of cold air was coming in from outside, the rain was pouring and it was just wet normal day. All a sudden the time was flowing at different rates and got slower by the second. Then she blinked, and she was in an old carriage. The sun burning like butter in a microwave, melting on the soggy green apples on the trees. She heard clopping like horse feet. She was very confused. In her mind she was wondering what was going on but she went with it. It was a two-person carriage. Her companion sitting on the other side of the carriage singing along for the quick trip they had. The world around her stank a lot. Normally it smelt normal like gas or trucks passing by with farm animals in them, but no, it smelt like pig droppings and rotten pigs, well, everything pig to be honest. When they got to the small house, inside there was a tight dress with dark black gloves and fish nets hanging on the closet, that doesn’t fit her dress code at school. At her school, they wore normal clothes but these ones were next level with strict.
My favourite thing about this book is that it has a lot of interesting characters in it like Herstory, Ming, Ada, and of course the wild boar at the start.
I would recommend this book for grade 3's and over because some little kids might not understand what the book is about and some scenes that they might think are sad.
I give this book a 10/10 because all the effort they put into this was insane and they have more books in the series which I am 100% going to read!
