Danger Is Everywhere: A Handbook for Avoiding Danger (Danger is Everywhere! #1)
by David O'Doherty
Reviewed by George D. CLPS Danger Is Everywhere: A Handbook for Avoiding Danger is the first of three books and a hilarious series by David O’Doherty and Chris Judge. This book has a long title that’s for sure, but there’s something else for sure that Docter Noel Zone is - paranoid. (Also Docter is purposely spelt wrong because Noel only had to study for one year to become a Docter, but he had to spend 6 years to become a Doctor and he liked the title, so he took the easy way out). Docter Noel Zone is a dangerologest (which is a fancy way of saying he “studies” danger). He believes that every thing is dangerous. For example, he believes anyone who rides a Segway is a vampire, so if you see anyone riding a Segway at night I suggest you run to the nearest church. Docter Noel Zone also has a complicated relationship with his next door neighbour Gretel, who owns a cabbage store, (cabbage is Noel’s favourite food). He lives alone with the exception of his pet rock Dennis, and sleeps in a bathtub (because beds are dangerous and you can fall of at any time when you're asleep but bathtubs on the other hand have sides to prevent you from falling off.) Noel’s house is positioned right behind the zoo, specifically, the giraffe enclosure. Occasionally they drop and spit leaves all over his garden and give him mean stares. The book is full of many more things to be “fearful” of (in Docter Noel Zones mind) and many more things for you to discover and enjoy. Also, watch out for page nine of this hilarious graphic novel. My overall summary of this book is that it made me laugh, I was excited to turn the next page and the best thing is this is only book 1! I rate this book 9/10 but because of the pre-mentioned danger around page 9, for Noel’s sake, I’ll give it a 9.5 / 10. I recommend this book to any age. Even my grandmother enjoyed reading it! |
