Cal is coming home from his friend’s house when a guy comes running up to him and says “The Ormond Singularity… Don't you let it be the death of you too, boy Get out! Get away! You have 365 days left!”
Sirens were approaching, a paramedic jumped out, pinned the man to the ground and took him to hospital. Later that day Cal and his uncle were out on their boat waiting for the fireworks. The fireworks were going off and they thought they should go back but the boat wouldn't start. The fireworks started to land in the ocean and were making some big waves. As each wave hit the boat kept filling with more water. Eventually the boat started to sink to the bottom of the ocean, they jumped out, but the waves were separating Cal and his uncle. Soon enough there was no sign of the other. Cal washed up on the shore near the place where they were staying. Cal walked back to their place and put the TV on and saw that his uncle was getting pulled up by a helicopter. After all his family was back together they went back home but, the whole house had been smashed. Cal rang his friend and told him all about what had just happened. Then he saw his Dad’s suitcase and saw it had been looked into and there was a jewellery box on the ground, but nothing was in it. Cal's mum had gone out and Cal had gone for a walk to the shops. When Cal had returned his uncle and sister, Gabbi, were laying on the ground in a big pool of blood. Cal rang the ambulance and the cops, then he waited outside for them to arrive. When they got out they started to chase Cal and this is where it all started. The chase had begun. He had to hide for the rest of the year and stay low until he figured out who did this. Cal had to find a safe place to hide for the night. He also had to work hard on this Ormond Singularity.
I really liked this book.
I rate this book 9/10 and I would recommend this book for 8 years and older.

Billionaire Boy by David Walliams

Picture
Reviewed by Archie C. CLPS
This is another awesome book by David Walliams. A young boy named Joe Spud has everything you’d ever want! 500 pairs of Nikes, a Grand-prix race in his garden, a robot dog from Japan, a golf buggy, a water slide, every computer game in the world, a 3D Imax cinema, a crocodile, 10 lane bowling alley, skateboard park, $100,000 a week pocket money, rollercoaster, a real-life shark and so much more! Really anything money could buy. But there is one thing Joe doesn’t have, and that is something money can’t buy. Deep down I was a little jealous of Joe, but I have something he doesn’t have... A FRIEND. Money is not the solution to everything. I am becoming a giant fan of David Walliams.
I give this book 10 out of 10.

Ratburger by David Walliams

Picture
Reviewed by Piers W. APS
This book is about Zoe and her pet rat. Burt a burger-van man has terrible plans for her pet rat. You’ll have to read this book to see what plans he has, but there’s a clue in the title of this book.....
I give it 7/10 and recommend it for Grades 3-6.
Reviewed by Archie C. CLPS
I think Ratburger is for ages 14 and over. It begins with a dead hamster in a cage. His owner, a little girl called Zoe, is sobbing with sadness. Her heart is broken, she felt like a smile was nowhere to be seen. I did not really like this book. I found it uncomfortable and a little hard to read. This book was missing (for me) David’s magic to make me have to laugh and smile. This book was just not for me.
I give it 4 out of 10.

Kangaroo Court by Mary O’Toole

Kangaroo Court is a very funny and interesting book. It’s about a judge not believing the animals that there is a black and hairy monster lurking around. This book is also a rhyming book. I think this book is great for children under 4 years of age because:
1. There are lots of new words they can learn
2. Little ones can learn about Australian animals and what they look like
3 It’s a great bedtime story book to read and I’m sure not just for little ones but older kids might also like it.
I rate this book 10/10.

The Slightly Annoying Elephant by David Walliams

This book is about the very annoying elephant. He tried to get in the bath, then he tried to ride a bike and the bike was flattened. Then he invited all of the elephants to come and stay and then the house was ruined. The funny bit about the book was that he said he won the Tour de France. There is a lesson at the end of the book, but you will have to read the book to find that out. I loved this book.
