The Last Straw (Diary of a Wimpy Kid #3)
by Jeff Kinney

Picture
Reviewed by Ella F. APS

Greg thinks he is the best person he knows. But to him his family is NOT.
So he only has one resolution, to make his family better people but it is not as easy as he was thinking. His dad was going on a diet but his dad is a junk food addict, his mum wants to start going to the gym and Greg’s dad wants to sign Greg up for military academy!!! Oh no! Well I want you, yes you, to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw.
I rate this book 10/10 because it is so realistic and funny.
I think this book is for Grades 3 to 4.

I'm Australian Too by Mem Fox

Picture
Reviewed by Lily McA. SCPS

This book is about a group of people that say where their family comes from. They come from places worldwide but they all ended up in Australia. In my opinion, the best bit is on Page 2. There is not a main character and no main setting. It is a picture story with lots of detail in the pictures. It is a picture storybook so it can have a wide range of readers. There are a few hard words in there but I like the challenge.
I really liked this book and I would rate it a 10/10.
I would differently recommend it to children aged 4~12 years old.

The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary by Jeff Kinney

Picture
Reviewed by Ella F. APS

This book is like the Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but it is a book and it explains about the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie. It explains about how difficult it was to make the movie, how Greg was made and his family.  Greg was first made in a sketch book and Jeff Kinney, the author, actually found out about Greg and his family and made a book out of it. Wow!!!
This book explained about the jobs the people in the movie had, it even showed the schedule that the actors had to do and how they did things in the movie like when they had to use fake snow.
I liked this book a lot because it was very interesting about the movie, especially how they actually pulled the movie off with so many issues.
I give it a 10/10 because I really liked the book.
I recommend the book for Years 3 - 4.

The Great Expedition by Peter Carnavas

One day a boy named Robert gazed at the country and it was very sunny. He was going exploring. He met with his senior officer (his mum), who gave him a parcel to deliver. The last instructions were given. Then there was an exploring party. It was assembled slowly but soon they were on their way. Robert and his friends arrived at Grandma's house and everything was decorated with balloons and Grandma was waiting there.
I rate this book 6/10.
I recommend this book be best read by Years 2 to 4.

The most cutest baby rat. So Zoe starts to take the rat everywhere. One day at school she nearly gets busted.
There's lots of characters in the story like Burt the Burger Van man.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked the setting, the scenes, the story and how realistic the book was.
 rate this book a 10 /10.
I recommend this book for Grades 4, 5 and 6.

Pig the Star by Aaron Blabey

Picture
Reviewed by Ella R. APS

Pig just loves attention. In fact, he’s a great big show off and he would take the spotlight from everyone. He won’t share his clothes either. Then, when he was showing off, he broke his bones and didn’t get to go on the runway. It is a really good book.
I rate this book 10/10.
I recommend it for Grades  2 - 3.

Gangsta Granny by David Walliams

Picture
Reviewed by Grace G. APS

Gangsta Granny is one of my favourite books and David Williams is one of my favourite authors. Ben's parents went to Strictly Stars Dancing every Friday so Ben used to stay at his granny's house for the weekend. Granny was a boring granny; she was always making something. Something with cabbage and Ben hated cabbage, but he pretended he liked it so he didn't hurt granny's feelings. One night Ben got out of bed, mind you it was 7:00 pm, but Ben got out of bed and called his mum. He asked if he could go home and his parents said no. The next morning he wanted something besides cabbage. He knew his granny had a stash of chocolate and Ben went and got one, but when he opened it, it was jewels. Apparently granny was a criminal mastermind!
Reviewed by Ella F. APS

In this book there is a boy named Ben and every single Friday night Ben goes to his Granny’s. He plays Scrabble and has his granny’s favourite dinner, cabbage. EWWWW!! In the story it tells about how Ben wants to be a plumber and about how Ben's parents are crazy about ballroom dancing and Flavio Flaioli . His parents even have Flavio Flaioli's pizza crust and a cardboard cut out of Flavio Flavioli with Ben's mum's lipstick around the mouth of the cut out.
Well I think you should read the book! Yes you, person reading this review!
The book was so funny and sweet and tells a lot about how kids should treat people older than them.
I rate this book a 9/10 because something really sad happens to granny.
I would probably recommend this book for Grade 4 - 6.

WEIR DO by Anh Do

I think it’s a great book because it tells you all about the character, Weir Do.  I like Weir Do because he is funny, weird and happy most of the time. Even his family does weird stuff. Weir Do is not perfect but he is great at doing thousands of things, even his pets can do heaps of tricks. His pets are called BlockHead, he is a bird, and FiDo, he is a dog. I am proud of Anh Do because he’s the man who made the book, Weir Do, and if this book wasn’t made I would have been sad but this book, Weir Do, made me brave and proud and happy because it makes me laugh out loud.
I rate it 9.5/10.
I recommend it for ages 8 and up.

This book is a book for people that like to read books that have a lot of action and bits that are full of funniness. The book also has a lot of fighting and a very magnificent story to read. Petey is the villian for the start of the book but in the end he was good, but at the very end of the he said "Life is pointless!!" because he was on his way to prison.
I rate this book 9.5/10.
I recommend this book for people from 7 to 12 years.

If you do not like Christmas then I would step away from reading this book. BUT if you do, then this would be a book for you! Ella wants to complete her secret mission for Christmas, if her mission doesn’t go well to complete Mission Christmas then her holidays will be as boring as. If it does go well then she is going to have the best holidays of her life. If you want to keep learning about this then keep reading the rest of the book.
I would rate it 7/10 because it’s interesting but its pretty hard to read. I would recommend it probably for 9 year olds.

Pog is always the winner but now other dogs are joining in. They had to make the costumes. Evie and Noah roll the reindeer's noses in glitter. Pog spies on Evie and Noah. Pog sneezes and all the glitter is in the air and lands on Pog. Pog went dressed  as Santa.

Hot Dog and his friends went camping and had a great time doing lots of different things. Hot Dog was proud of his friends Lizzie and Kevin because they were good at doing different things. Kevin is good  at cooking and wood chopping and Lizzie is good at knot tying. Kevin was also great at eating cookies and won the cookie eating contest easily.

This book is about a boy named Alex.
One week ago: Alex was at the beach when a bomb went off and injured his friends.

Then the story jumps to the present time. Alex is walking when he spots a man named Yassen Gregovich. Alex then decides to follow him. Yassen goes to a hotel, where he lays down on a bed. Alex confronts him, but then a man grabs Alex from behind... but you will have to read the book to find out what happens!
This is one of my favourite books. It's really interesting and fun to read. It's a graphic novel. My favourite thing about the book is that it had a bit of a believable storyline which made it easy to understand. I also liked that it wasn't very predictable.
Lots of books that I've read have really big or little writing sizes but this one wasn't too big or small which I found easy to read and appropriate for my age group.
I give it  10/10. I thought it was all good but it could have been longer.

l Heart Pets: Ella Diaries #3 by Meredith Costain

Reviewed by Lily McA. SCPS

Now, who does not LOVE pets? If you don't, you're crazy and this book is definitely not for you!
Anyway, I absolutely LOVE this book. It is about a girl called Ella who is in a class with a mean girl called Princess Peach. Princess Peach is a mean girl who always wants to be better than Ella. One day at school, some animal care workers come in so they could see their animals. When it came to question time, Princess Peach who not to mention doesn't even like pets, asked what she can do to start her animal helping career. To start their career they had to make a fact file on an animal and Ella only had a dog called Bob and she knew everything about him so she quickly made a file and it didn't even take that long. So she asked her parents if she could get a new pet but they said no, she kept asking but the answer was the same every time. I am not going to tell the rest so if you want to find out you will have to read the book yourself.
I rate this book 10/10 diaries.
