Fluke by Lesley Gibbes

Picture
Reviewed by Amelia H. APS

Fluke was a whale. He was born in Sydney Harbour and, like usual, out tail first. His mother pushed him up for his first breath. The people of Sydney Harbour realised he had something different from his mother. He had white tipped flukes. One day the motors of boats scared Fluke and he quickly rushed to the bottom of the ocean and got separated from his mother. Read this story to find out what happened. I think it’s a good book because it is based on a real event.
I rate it 9/10 and recommend it for ages 6-13.

First Timmy dreams of being a real soccer player. He has three friends who play soccer and all of them play for the Lions. One day there was a very special day where every kid could make a real cool trick and then send it to some judges. They looked at all of the tricks and then at lunch time on Friday, Timmy raced to the library with his friend and then he logged onto the computer. He won and he got to be a ball kid at the Australian game.
I personally rate this book a nine out of ten because I liked the punctuation and the pictures.

The Beach Shack Cafe (Pippa's Island#1)
by Belinda Murrell

Picture
Reviewed by Shayla C. BGS

Belinda Murrell is a really good author because she made me believe that she was telling a true story. She told you everything you need to know, and you wanted to keep on reading. She made it so you can picture the story in your head and what's happening, and you can know how the characters are feeling and she puts a lot of detail in the story.
Philippa is the main character. Everyone calls her Pippa. She moved to Kira Island with her mum, her sister Bella and her brother Henry. They moved from London. They are living in their grandparent’s caravan next to their grandparent’s house. Pippa is nervous to be going to a new school. She gets welcomed by her new friends Meg, Charlie and Cici, but she has an enemy, Olivia. Olivia is not very nice to Pippa and Olivia is jealous of Pippa. Pippa’s Mum had a crazy idea to buy a beach shack to do up and live in it and have a little library and a cafe. Pippa finds it a bit hard to fit in and her friend help her to settle in and that makes Pippa happy. Her Mum was struggling to finish the cafe, so Pippa’s friends' family helped to finish the cafe in time for the opening night. If you move to a new school or a new place this book can help you to find your way and to keeps you not as nervous and to not be scared and miss your friends. I recommend this book for 9 to 12 year olds or if you just moved to a new place or new school because this will help you.
I rate this book and 10 /10. I loved this book.
