The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Andersen

One day a mother duck laid some eggs and when the eggs hatched, one of the ducklings looked different to the others. Everybody called the white duckling the ugly duckling. When the duckling grew up something surprising happened.
I rate this book 10/10 because it teaches you to never judge someone's or something’s appearance.
I recommend this book for ages 5+.

This is the story of Jane Addams who helped a poor neighbourhood by opening a house as a community centre. It was called Hull House. She used her good fortune to help poor people with food, shelter and education. She received a Nobel peace prize.

It was Christmas time and Olivia was so excited for Santa to come. Oh no, Olivia made a mistake! She sent the letter full of the things she wanted for Christmas to the wrong address! Olivia tried to find ways to attract Santa's attention so Santa wouldn't miss her house on Christmas night.
I rate this 8/10.
I recommend this book for people aged 7+.

A Grimm Warning (The Land of Stories #3)

When Connor goes to Germany, for the reading of the new fairy tales he finds out that his friends in the fairy tale world might be in danger. Meanwhile Alex trains to be the next fairy godmother.
This story is great! At some points I feel like am going to explode with laughter. You feel like you’re best friends with the characters, it’s that well written. 
Out of 10, I rate it 10.
I recommend this for ages 10-14.

The Bench Warmers (Ball Stars #1) by David Lawrence

The book is about these new students who like basketball and this one student Greg makes fun of them and says they're not good enough and calls them 'benchwarmers'.
I rate it 4.5/10 because I didn’t really like it, but it was okay.

Know It All: Cars by Andrew Langley

This is a great book for people who would like to know more about how cars work. It has some detailed diagrams about pistons, brakes and other parts that make up the car. The book also contains lots of pictures to help people understand what certain things look like and how they work. It has some pop-up facts and some true or false questions. It also has a quiz at end to test your comprehension. On some pages the words are in bold so you can look them up in the glossary. 
This is a great book on cars and how they work.
I recommend this book to anyone who might like to learn more about cars.
I think this book is for anyone aged 5+. 

My Aussie Dad by Yvonne Morrison

This book is about Aussie dads and what they do. From cooking on the barbie to doing DIY. My favourite part was when the Aussie dad said "She’ll be right, it’s apples mate!” This book is great for bedtime because it's quick, funny and easy to read.  
I rate this book 10/10. 

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson and the sea of monsters is a great Greek mythology-based by Rick Riordan. Percy discovers that his half-brother is a Cyclops! They also play dodgeball against cannibal giants. Quests to get the Golden Fleece from Polyphemus are also launched, meanwhile, Chiron is sacked and replaced by Tantalus! If you want to find out more, go read it!  
I recommend it for Grades 4+ and I rate it 10/10. 

​Really Weird (Weirdo #8) by Anh Do - Chapters 1 and 2

I think Weirdo 8 is a confusing book by Anh Do. 
Chapter 1 is about a school dance and Weir passes a note but it ends up in the wrong hands so now he has to go with Wendy. 
I would strongly recommend this book for all ages.  
I rate this chapter 7/ 10. 
 
Really Weird (Weirdo #8) by Anh Do - Chapter 2 
This chapter was about Weir and his family. They were going to visit their grandma Do and they were really excited. They played I Spy With My Little Eye. 
I thought this was another confusing chapter by Anh Do 
I give this chapter 6/10. 

A Great Big Dinosaur Adventure by Katherine Kirkland

Oli is an oligokyphus (oh-lih-gah-kih-fuss) and wants to find the scariest dinosaur but no one will go with him. On his adventure Oli find a lot of friends to go with him and together they find the scariest dinosaur.  
I recommend this picture book for kids in primary school. 
I rate this book 7 out of 10.

Ramon was a boy who loved drawing but when his brother Leon saw one of his drawings, he burst out laughing, Ramon was furious. After a few months of drawing Ramon gave up he just thought that his drawings just weren’t right. 
I rate this 9 out of 10. 
I recommend this book for Prep to Grade 3.

This book is about a number that is zero and Zero always thought she had no value until... 
Seven tells her to look at a different perspective. Then Zero realized that she could work together to make bigger numbers.  
I recommend this book to Grades 1 to  4.  
I rate this book 9/10 because the storyline was a tiny bit ‘holey’. ​

The Chronicles of Narnia are a funny yet heart warming series. The Horse and His Boy follows the storyline of a boy and his horse. They set off to travel to Narnia and get lost in a desert. This book is intriguing because the boy loses his horse... Will he find it?  
I rate this book a 10/10.  
I recommend this book for Years 4 to 8.

Personally, I really like this book because the storyline was incredible. It inspired me to read more. This book follows the life of dragon clans.  
I can't take in all the emotions of this insane book! I really enjoyed this book and rate it 10/10 and recommend it to people who like dragons.

The book is about a bull that's named Bill and he wanted to buy some things at the china shop but no-one would let him in because he's a bull. He went to the china shop but he broke everything and he was sobbing. Some ladies came in and saw he was crying so the ladies helped the bull and bought him a teacup. The bull invited them to a tea party. 
I like the book because it has good pictures and words.
I recommend this book for Years 2-4.

The book was about the tragic time in history, the Stolen Generation. It explained what happened to the children, how they felt and mainly explained the event. 
I liked the book because it was like I was experiencing it. I could feel how painful the event was. 
I would recommend the book to everyone. 

Hot Dog! by Ahn Do - Chapters: 1 and 2

This book is about a hot dog but not the food. He has a really long body and really little legs. He hates but loves, his little legs at the same time.

Rowley Jefferson's Awesome Friendly Kids Spooky Stories by Jeff Kinney

This is one of my most favourite books that I have ever read in my life. The bit that was scary was THE DEMON chapter. It had Rowley and Greg watch a movie and Rowley says the evil words. Then he turns into a Demon and demolishes the house.  Greg goes into the bathroom and then the evil spirit comes in. Greg uses toilet water and when it gets on him...  
I rate this book 7/10 demons and for kids aged 8 to 13. 

Ghosts by Raina Telgemeier - Pages: 1-19

In the beginning of the book there was a family moving to a new house but when they got to their new house they had some problems with the power. The two girls, called Maya and Cat, went for a walk, and found a secret path. 
I like this book because it makes me wonder what's going to happen next. 
I recommend this book for ages 7-11 years.

It's funny. It makes you sad and it makes you happy.  
I recommend this book for ages 5 to 16.

Gerald the Elephant asked Piggie to play outside and Piggie said, "Yes, yes please." So they went outside. When they went outside it started to rain and Piggie was not very happy but Gerald put up his ear and she was happy. When she saw the worm happy in the rain then she loved the rain. 
I liked this book is because it is funny and Gerald is a nice friend to Piggie and Piggie is bossy.  
I think it is recommended for Grades 2-3.  
I rate this book 10/10. 

Thea Stilton and the Star Castaways by Thea Stilton

Five girls go to space. They land on the moon and they are sisters with different personalities. While they are on the moon they had a mystery to solve. 
I liked how the author picked the moon instead of a different planet.  
I recommend this book for ages 10 up.

The Hidden Kingdom (Wings of Fire 3#)

Five dragonesses; Glory, Tsunami, Star Flight, Sunny and Webs, explore and try to find a rainforest monster that is killing dragons. 
When it was raining, Starflight said to Glory, who is a Rain Wing, "You should like this weather." Glory says back to Starflight, "Ha ha."
It's really funny. 
I recommend this for ages 9 and above because there's blood!  
I rate it 10/10. 

The Whale by Ethan and Vita Murrow

This is a picture book about a girl and a boy. The girl and the boy are trying to prove the whale is real so they built a boat with a camera but the boat crashed. Then they saw the whale. 
I loved the pictures and if you look closely it shows you body language. 
I recommend this book for year 5 to year 8 kids. 
I give it a 6/10.

I didn't like the book because it was boring. The reason is because there are no Tier 2 words. 
I would recommend this book for my sister who is five.

Stolen Girl by Trina Saffioti

​ This is a book about the Stolen Generation but this one was different. It had a main character but we never learn her aboriginal name. She talks about how she felt and had dreams of going back to her mum, but near the end she got a key, unlocked the door and counted the stars till home...
It was so deep and expressive. It was sweet and realistic.
I recommend this book for everyone.

There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Mozzie

​The old lady ate a mozzie then she swallowed the echidna to catch the mozzie and then ate a snake to wrap around the echidna, then the rosella to squawk at the snake. Then the dingo to chase the rosella and a roo to wrestle the dingo. Then she swallowed a croc and it was so funny that she could swallow all those Aussie animals.
I would recommend this book for Year 2 and 3 children. 
I would rate this book 9/10.

Diary of an AFL Legend by Shamini Flint

This book was about a boy who hated AFL and was never going to play footy in his life. He gave footy a go and loved it.  He became an AFL legend and enjoyed football.

George’s Cosmic Treasure Hunt (George #2)

George’s Cosmic Treasure Hunt is another book I have reviewed. If you don’t know I’ve been reviewing the Lucy and Stephen Hawking Series for a while now. This book is about when George’s dad Eric has joined the Global Space Agency (GSA for short) and they have sent a rover , called Homer, to Mars to explore the surface to see if Mars had life. Homer successfully landed on Mars but Homer is not doing anything that mission control wants it to do. To fix the problem Annie and George go to Mars using Cosmos, a laptop/supercomputer, to open a portal to Mars. 
I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy adventures (it’s got a lot of that!)
This is a good book with lots of settings. I give this 8/10.

Pig was greedy and selfish. Would Pig Share?

Pig the Pug makes me laugh. Pig the Pug and Trevor are enemies. At the end Trevor and Pig the Pug become friends in a funny way.

I didn’t really like the book because it was kind of boring and not that interesting and it wasn’t my favourite book ever and it looked good but it wasn’t really. The story was about a koala and her baby and it told me some facts about koalas, but not many and not much happened in the story anyway. 
I would recommend this book to 7 to 9 year olds.
I would rate this book 5/10.

This is the fourth book in the Funny Kid series. Funny Kid Gets Licked is about all the main characters Max, Pip, Tyson, Hugo and Abby. They have all chosen an animal to make a charity to donate some money to help the animal.  It will be hard to gets some money. Max and Hugo team up to make some money for pandas and they have three ideas.
I like this book because it has some funny things in the  book and some animals.
I recommend this book for people aged 10 and up.
I give this book 10 out of 10 because I like the first three books in the series.

Monster Nanny is a very good book to read if you like adventures and monsters.   I like this book because it has very interesting words in it and has some funny parts too. This book is about a monster that becomes a nanny to three children when their mum hired the monster while she went on a vacation in Lapland. The three children, Halley, Koby and Mimi, have gone on an adventure with their monster nanny named GRAH. 

The Stonekeeper (Amulet #1) by Kazu Kibuishi

In the prologue they are travelling in the car along a cliff, and they fall. The mum climbs out of the car, then the girl (Emily), but the dad falls. In the story they move to the middle of nowhere, and the girl finds the first amulet. They then find a secret world in their basement. They find another Stonekeeper. I don’t want to spoil all of the story, so I can't tell you anything else.  
I rate this book 10/10.  
I recommend it from Prep to Year 7. 

Percy Jackson and the Titans Curse by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson and the Titans Curse is a book, like the others in its series, based on Greek mythology. An introduction to the Hunters of Artemis was a defining feature, along with the Manticore (half-man half-lion). The Oracle  takes a zombie stroll to inform Zoe, the leader of the Hunters, to go on a quest to save Artemis, the moon goddess. Along the way, they end up taking on the curse of Atlas, being the job of holding up THE SKY!  
I rate this 10/ 10. 
This book would be good for people in Grade 4 and older.

This book is about a kid called Callan Ormond who gets framed for the attempted murder of his uncle and sister. He then gets chased by the authorities and a gang man called Sligo. 
I recommend this book for 10-20 year olds who like action.

The Bad Guys: Episode 2: Mission Unpluckable

Kobe was little and he started to grow. When he got to 6 feet tall everything changed for him. He had to go to a lot of different countries where people didn't like basketball. So he played a game called shadow basketball.  
I recommend it for ages 8 – 13.

Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth

This book has an awesome storyline and cool and different characters. This book makes you not want to stop reading and makes you want to see what happens next. It was good because you never know what will happen next. It is a great book and has some characters you might already know. I definitely recommend reading this book. This is my favourite book ever.

Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth is a book based on Greek mythology, like the others in its series. Daedalus' Labyrinth, a self-aware, ever-expanding maze re-opens and Kronos plans to use it to attack Camp Half-Blood!  
If you want to find out more, go read it!  
I recommend this for Grade 4+ and I rate it 10/10.

The Fishy Treasure Caper (Carmen Sandiego Graphic Novels #2) by  Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

I watched Carmen Sandiego when it came out on Netflix, and I really liked the series. I found a book about it from book club, and I was happy to see that they had made a book about it. It was based on one episode when Tigress was trying to steal a treasure left behind by a pirate. Since it was one episode, you’d expect it to be rather short but that was not the case.  
I like the storyline of the book a lot. I recommend it to anyone who likes adventures. The book also has some history facts in it so if you like history, you might like this book too. 
I thought this was a very good book.  
I rate it 8.5/10. 

You Choose 3: Maze of Doom by George Ivanoff

You Chose is a very interesting book that has lots of twists and turns, eg; you’re walking down the maze when a killer bunny jumps at you, or a robot comes out of the wall and zaps you. It has lots of different scenarios and one wrong decision and the book can suddenly change in a bad or good way. There are many books in the You Choose series but, in my opinion, this is the best one.  
I rate this book 8/10 because there are many endings which makes it difficult and interesting to make it to the end.  
People aged 5+ should consider reading this book.

Stephen Curry wanted to be just like his dad, Dell Curry, but there was one problem, Stephen was getting bullied because he was short. That did not stop him from practicing basketball. Stephen was not going to let that stop him from trying his hardest. 
I recommend this book for ages 8-12.

The book is about twins who find themselves stuck in The Land of Fairy Tales! This (as you would imagine) both made the twins amazed and terrified. The only way out was with an ancient spell... 
This book is amazing and literally makes you think that you are there (and honestly, you wish you were there too). The twists in it are the best and even though you think something else, it ends up being better.  
I rate this book a 9/10 and recommend it to ages 9-13. 

The Enchantress Returns (The Land of Stories #2)

When their mother gets kidnapped, the twins are put into house arrest by the Fairy Godmother. When they find out the Enchantress (the one who cursed Sleeping Beauty) was the one who kidnapped their mother they go on a wild goose chase in The Fairy Tale World to find her. 
This book is the best. You really never see anything coming. It is so funny! Some bits are so funny that you read them over and over again. If you could find a better book than this (that is not one of Chris Colfer’s) I would be amazed!   
​I rate it 10/10 and I recommend it to ages 9+.

Prank Wars (The Funny Kids #3)

Max and his friend Duck live in Red Hill, and everybody calls him the funny kid.  Then he goes to camp, but he likes a new girl who is new to Red Hill. She is Pip but Max hates Pip’s brother, Tyson.   
Read about the prank war that happens at camp in the book.  
I like the Prank Wars book because it is funny and what happens in the book is for kids. 
I would recommend this book for people that like funniness.  It could be read by people aged 10 to 12. 
I give the book 10 out of 10.  

Olga The Brolga by Rod Clement

Olga was in a bad mood because she wanted to dance but nobody else wanted to dance. She asked her parents but they were doing other things. Then she decided to ask her friends but they were also doing other things. Olga was sad that she had no one to dance with so she danced by herself. 
I rate this 9/10 because it's a really a good story. 
I think people 5+ should read this book. 

The Bad Guys: Episode 8: Superbad

This book is probably my favourite book in the whole entire series because they have superpowers. My favourite person, well animal, is Mr. Snake because he can hypnotise people. Mr. Shark can shapeshift, Mr. Wolf has super strength, Mr. Pirahna has super speed and Legs (Legs is a spider), well he is just a regular spider.  
I recommend this book for anyone that likes short, interesting books and is over the age of 5. 
I rate this book 10/10!

Mr. Wolf and his crew try to find the Cute-zilla Ray. They find it by Mr. Piranha farting multiple times. This book has lots of comedy and potty humour.

Greg has to live at his grandma's house until his house is fixed. When their great Grandmother called to tell his dad that his brother’s camper van had been stuck in her driveway for the past 2 years, Greg's dad got excited about hitting the open road.  
I recommend this book for 5 and up. I absolutely love this book.

​This book is about a girl named Kristy who has an idea to start a babysitting club which includes Stacey McGill, Mary Ann Spier, Claudia Kishi and of course Kristy Thomas. 
This is a really good book for people who are interested in babysitting. 
I would recommend this book to people aged eight and up because, there are a couple of tricky words throughout the story. 
I rate this book 10/10 because I enjoyed reading all of the funny adventures the four girls have when babysitting.  
 

There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Star

It was Christmas time when an old lady swallowed a star, a stocking and even one of Santa's elves! She also swallowed a whole lot of things! At the end she pops out all the things she swallowed. 
I rate this book 10 /10 because it's a really good story and a bit funny and disgusting. The illustrator is Louis Shea. 
I think that people 5+ should read this book.

Peanuts is a very funny comic book containing plenty of funny comics, struggling to laugh? Then you should read this book! I like the 11th comic the most, the storyline goes like this. The girl says she has... “always been scared of dogs". The boy says "If you don't mess with them while they’re eating, they won't bite"  
Then the dog thinks: “Don't even go near a loud discussion”.  
I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for humour or comedy.  
I rate this book 10/10. 

Possum Magic by Mem Fox

I really enjoyed this book because it started in the Australian bush and ended up in Perth. They rode their bike to all kinds of places in Australia to find different food because before they left, they made Hush the possum invisible, and food makes her visible. 
It wasn't my favourite book but I give it book 7 out of 10 because I enjoyed the read and really like the pictures. 
I recommend this book for ages 5 to 11.

Tom is really excited to go on a school activity trip, but he needs to find his form. This book has got a lot of comedy.  I have read nearly every Tom Gates book except Book 1and I can't wait for the next book.

This book is a picture book for kids. In this story a little penguin got upset because his mum didn't pay attention to the world around as she was talking on the phone so he put up a sign that said "Mum for sale! Taking offers!" He accepted a jar full of snacks, but he couldn't open it up. So he went looking for someone to open it up but no one could... 
I recommend this book for ages 6+ because the words are easy to read and if you cannot read the words the picture tells you what's happening!

I rate this book 10 out of 10 because it's interesting but still funny.

Gangsta Granny by David Walliams

This is a chapter book so I am reviewing one chapter, Chapter Four. Chapter Four is when granny tells Ben to go to bed but Ben keeps saying that he does not go to bed until nine o' clock. They argue and I found it a little funny. I am looking forward to reading more chapters.  
I recommend this book for ages 10 to 14.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is a chapter book by Rick Riordan. It is based on Greek mythology. It is the first of five Percy Jackson books. This book depicts Percy's life. Percy, in fact, is a demigod. But I'm not going to spoil it anymore. Go read it!  
I recommend this for Grade 5 and above.  
It is a 10/10 rating from me!

This book is about a guinea pig named Lou. He was busting for the toilet but when Lou found a toilet the queue was really long. He looked for other places to go to the toilet but there was always something there to stop him. This is a really funny story and has lots of rhyming words. 
I recommend this book for ages 4 to 12yrs and rate it 8/10.

This book has a lot of things going on, let me start from the start.  
A fly, not just a fly, a really annoying fly makes a fire and then they have to get the treehouse fire brigade. All of a sudden Andy puts him in a cage. Then they got abducted by a flying ???? and then they get into a deadly battle in eyeballier.   
Watch out for flies that can be annoying, one is annoying me right now. 
I rate this book 9/10 and recommend this book for 8 to 13 year olds.

This book is about a boy whose parents died and he didn't have a home to live in and he had to look after himself.  
After his parents died, he got shot as well, he woke up in the hospital and the nurse told him that he was bullet proof. All of a sudden, the nurse gave him a sheet of paper that he could sign to become a bullet catcher.  
Wait and find out what happens next when you read the book yourself.

Rocks, Minerals and Gems is a non-fiction book telling you about how to find, clean and identify all types of rocks, minerals and gems. It has lots of pictures to help you find out what type you have. It also makes complex terms much easier to understand, eg specific gravity, cleavage and lustre.  It tells you how to put your own samples on a Mohs scale and has its own to show you roughly what the weakest and strongest rocks are.  
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in rocks, minerals and gems.
​I rate this book a 9.5/10 because of the attention to detail and description.  
People 6 and up should read this.

This book is about a service that saves people’s lives who are in remote areas. This service is called The Royal Flying Doctor Service. The service uses planes to get to sick people like an ambulance.  The first plane was called Victory. This book tells me about the sad and scary situations people are in and teaches me that The Royal Flying Doctor Service will always be there. 
I rate this book a 9/10 and suggest it suit ages 7-adult.

Ella and Olivia are sisters. Ella and Olivia love to dance. At Ella's ballet class Olivia likes to pretend that she is on stage. When the lesson is done Mrs. Fry makes a big announcement, we are going to perform Cinderella but will Ella be the ballet star of the show? 
I recommend this book for 8-11 years old.

This book was about a young boy called Simon. He was playing for the Vics in football...he played u15s he had 2 goals and 2 points, he marked the ball for this 5th shot on goal... he was 30 meters out and on a slight angle he kicked a.... read on to see what he kicked... 
I recommend this for kids 8 and up and footy fans.  
I rate this book a 9.5/10 because it was good for me as I like footy. 

Heroes of Footy by Kevin Sheedy

This book is about many different footy players and it is about Kevin Sheedy's opinion on these players. It has a lot of interesting information but it also has what other players said about them. It talks about how some players have come from different countries and their amazing stories before they even get into the AFL.                                         
I really liked this book and rate this book a 10/10. 
I recommend it for ages 8 to 99.
