by P. Crumble
Reviewed by Evie M. SCPS An old lady swallowed a star then she swallowed a stocking to hang under the star. She swallowed an elf to fetch his stocking and she swallowed some fairy lights to give to the elf. She swallowed a reindeer to turn on the lights, then she swallowed a Christmas tree to feed the reindeer. Then she finally swallowed Santa and did a loud burp. Everything flew out of her mouth including the star!! I recommend this book for ages 4+. I rate this book 8/10 because it was very well designed and written. The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate
Reviewed by William K. BGS Ivan is a Gorilla that lives in the Big Top Mall. He has lived there for twenty-two years and he was brought from the jungle as a baby. His friends are Stella the elephant, Bob the dog and Julia the girl. The Big Top Mall is owned by Mack, who is trying to keep the mall open by putting up an attractive billboard, but it doesn’t work very well. Then one day, a new elephant arrives! Her name is Ruby, and she is a baby elephant. She was brought from a circus that ran out of money and had to shut down. All of a sudden Stella’s foot starts hurting more than ever and she has to be put down because of the pain. After the mall closes at night, Julia comes to see Ivan and do her homework. Sometimes when she has done her homework, she gets to paint Ivan. He likes getting painted and thinks the paintings look like him. Ivan will sometimes get brought some paint by Mack. He likes painting pictures of bananas and things around his domain. Then suddenly the Big Top Mall runs out of money and has to close. Ivan and Ruby are transported on a big truck to a zoo, where they live very peacefully with other gorillas and elephants. Ivan is a silverback, so he gets to lead his troop of gorillas. I loved the book because it is about gorillas and I like primates. It has also been made into a movie and I am going to watch the movie this weekend. I would recommend the book for people who really like painting and gorillas. I would give it 10 out of 10! |

So Ethan set a plan to prove Trixie wrong, they found a few mermaids, princesses and unicorns making little bubbles from their bottoms. They walked up to Trixie and heard a gentle whispering sound and glitter all around! Trixie hid her face and quietly said, "Maybe you’re right"!!! Reviewed by William K. BGS Harry Woods is a pilot in the RAF during the Battle of Britain in 1940. He really wanted to be a pilot when he grew up, but he was only 19 when World War 2 started. When the government changed the rule about the age, Harry quickly signed up. When Harry finished training, he was very excited to fight in the RAF against the Luftwaffe. After a couple of weeks he has to bail out high above the English Channel and lands in a field of corn! In a few days he is back at base planning the next attack on the Luftwaffe. I enjoyed the book because I really love reading books about World War 2. I recommend the Battle of Britain for ages 8+ and for people who love aircraft. I give this book 10 /10. |

Meet Banjo Paterson by Kristin Weidenbach
Reviewed by Oliver W. SCPS Did you know that this book has the same author as Tom the Outback Mailman? It is written by Kristin Weidenbach. This book makes me want to live 137 years ago. My favourite part of the book was when the author talked about the man from snowy river. I really enjoyed it because I have seen the movie 1 and 2 and before this book I didn't even know it was a poem or written by Banjo Paterson, so this book taught me a lot of information. Another bit about the book that I liked was when it said what he wore. He wore braces and hats and loved the leathery smell of his boots. |
Tom the Outback Mailman by Kristen Weidenbach
Reviewed by Oliver W. SCPS I am doing a book review on this book because it really interested me because it was a true story. It was about an outback hero named Tom Kruse. He was a mailman and put all sorts of things on his truck. What I think was really cool was that he named his truck The Badger. And what I think is the funny bit about this book is he even puts people on top of The Badger. He drove on the Birdsville Track from Marree to Birdsville. It wasn’t always a smooth drive. |
