Anyway, this book can help players learn about the stats about each and every block such as blast resistance, hardness, light emission, if it is renewable, if it is flammable, if it can be obtained by silk touch and if it is transparent semi-transparent or opaque (solid). It So Happens by Finzo
Reviewed by George D. CLPS This children's book is absolutely the strangest book that I have ever read and probably the strangest book you will ever read too (I had this read to me when I was a kid and when you read books when you are older it is just more weird). It all starts at the house of the hero of the our story. His name is Algernon and he rolls his dice to see what he will do today. He will go bear hunting! On his way he finds a magical moustache-bearing rabbit riding a 7 foot tall fish who can tangle his tongue and gets upset easily (don't tell him I said that or else he will cry). Algernon meets the rabbit and he tries to shoot it with his single barrel flintlock and the the rabbit uses his magical incantations to summon a mountain between them and he runs away with his tongue twisting sensitive 7 foot tall fish (try and say that 10 times fast). Algernon wanders up the mountain to find a bear. Instead he finds a Swiss witch who turns people into stools (except only Dutch people because of their excellent diet). I am sorry that I have to end the story here but I can't give away all the book :( I rate the book 10 /10 because it is excellent. Reading it when I am older made me laugh because it got read to me when I was younger. I recommend it to anyone who wants a laugh - the end is the best! :) |

Sam is worried that she is going to get hurt as she has still got her whole life ahead of her. “Just be careful on that Smiler horse,” he says on page 28. This book is set on Calgardup beach with paddocks connected and a house connected to the paddocks. While they are saddling up the horses they move into the barn that is near the house. In the book they move to the beach were the book is mostly set as they are trying their hardest to help people. They gallop back and forth a few times while going over sand dunes. The mood in this book is very suspenseful and quite serious. You can tell in the illustrations as they are quite dark and words like “The boy sobs in fear”. You can just read and tell that it is a quite dark and serious story. I think that the main theme of this story is putting others before yourself “Sam and Grace plunge their horses into the surf” or “We have to help them” Grace yelled. You can see from the pictures how they are in the water putting others safety before theirs. They later got two medallions for their bravery. Sam, Grace and the Shipwreck is an awesome book. Everything was covered in snow. My favourite part of the story was when they defeated the evil queen of Narnia, and then it became Summer so you could see green trees for miles and miles. I rate this book 7/10. Older kids would probably understand the language more, so I recommend this to ages 9 to 15. Read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to find more magical wonders inside. |

Back to the Drawing Board (Making Friends #2) by Kristen Gudsnuk
Reviewed by Emily C. CLPS Imagine going from having no friends to having lots of friends because of a sketchbook. Dany had a crazy aunt that passed away and let people keep her stuff. Dany took a few sketch books to see what her aunt was about, but the book was magic and whatever you drew came to life. At first she didn't know it was magic and drew Prince Neptune (a character in a movie). After she found out that the book was magic she made money and other stuff. One day at school, Nick Maloney (a bully), came up and said something which made her upset. She ran to the toilet and got her sketchbook and decided to make someone who could be her best friend. After a while she found a name, Madison Fontaine, from New York City, kind, good at hair and makeup, friendly and her best friend obviously. I like the story because you realise that you have a lot friends but you can't tell until you get another friend. Also there are other books in this series. I recommend this book for ages 8 and over as it is a comic book and easy to read. I give this book a 10/10 because it is very funny. |

Danger Is Everywhere: A Handbook for Avoiding Danger (Danger is Everywhere! #1)
by David O'Doherty
Reviewed by George D. CLPS Danger Is Everywhere: A Handbook for Avoiding Danger is the first of three books and a hilarious series by David O’Doherty and Chris Judge. This book has a long title that’s for sure, but there’s something else for sure that Docter Noel Zone is - paranoid. (Also Docter is purposely spelt wrong because Noel only had to study for one year to become a Docter, but he had to spend 6 years to become a Doctor and he liked the title, so he took the easy way out). Docter Noel Zone is a dangerologest (which is a fancy way of saying he “studies” danger). He believes that every thing is dangerous. For example, he believes anyone who rides a Segway is a vampire, so if you see anyone riding a Segway at night I suggest you run to the nearest church. Docter Noel Zone also has a complicated relationship with his next door neighbour Gretel, who owns a cabbage store, (cabbage is Noel’s favourite food). He lives alone with the exception of his pet rock Dennis, and sleeps in a bathtub (because beds are dangerous and you can fall of at any time when you're asleep but bathtubs on the other hand have sides to prevent you from falling off.) Noel’s house is positioned right behind the zoo, specifically, the giraffe enclosure. Occasionally they drop and spit leaves all over his garden and give him mean stares. The book is full of many more things to be “fearful” of (in Docter Noel Zones mind) and many more things for you to discover and enjoy. Also, watch out for page nine of this hilarious graphic novel. My overall summary of this book is that it made me laugh, I was excited to turn the next page and the best thing is this is only book 1! I rate this book 9/10 but because of the pre-mentioned danger around page 9, for Noel’s sake, I’ll give it a 9.5 / 10. I recommend this book to any age. Even my grandmother enjoyed reading it! |

There once was a girl who lived with her mother. But one day the mother went to get flour. So the girl waited while the mother was buying flour. But then a man took her away to the children's home. When the girl arrived at the children’s home, it was raining. The people took away the clothes she had on and the girl had to wear a faded dress that has already been worn by other children. They were taught how to write and read, but in the afternoons they would clean and cook. Winter comes around and the girls are forced to do exercises in the cold. Some girls are even taken by white families to work at their homes. Before the bell rings for the girls to get up the girl sneaks out of bed and grabs the keys to the door. She unlocked the door and took a step outside. I like this book because it is really interesting!

Blackbird (Five nights at Freddy's: FAZBEAR FRIGHTS #6) by Scott Cawthorn
Reviewed by Emmett L. SPS This book is written by Scott Cawthon and it is the 6th installment of his Fazbear Frights series. There are three stories in one. They are Blackbird, The real Jake and Hide and Seek. The first story, Blackbird, was a cautionary tale. Unlike the other two stories, It is very meaningful. It basically is a warning for people who laughed at the things they did in the past. It's monster, the Blackbird, follows Nole around the entirety of the first story basically staring at him like - this is what happens if you go too far. The other two stories also have some startling moments and adds to the horror of the story. In conclusion the book has 3 morals: Blackbird's moral is don't laugh at the bad things you did in the past. The Real Jake's moral is cherish your life, even in your final moments. Hide and Seek's moral is don't cheat or else bad things will happen. I think that the two stories (Blackbird and Hide and Seek) have a common pattern. The main character does a bad thing and then a monster follows them around. The second story was okay but I think it kind of went a little sad when cancer was mentioned. I love this book a lot and rate it 9/10. |

Dragon Dawn by Carole Wilkinson
Reviewed by Liam G. BPS What could a 1000-year-old dragon do during the winter? This is a book about a young dragon (in dragon terms) called Danzi, who finds it hard to do what all the other dragons are doing. While all the dragons are hibernating in deeps pools of water this curious dragon decides to stop trying and starting to fulfil his passed dragon keepers prophesy. This book submerges me in the Han dynasty of ancient China and is like I am with Danzi throughout the book. When I read this, I feel like I am looking at this majestic portrait of a beautiful green dragon with horns like a goat’s horns, a mane like a graceful horse, a long scaly body like a snake, fury paws like a lion and whiskers like a catfish. This book is a heart-warming, adventurous, non-fiction book. Even the most diabolical person can change into a wellful dragon-keeper (with the aid of a wise but young dragon) who would never do his evil deeds again. There are main characters in this book but there is one in particular I feel for and that is Danzi. He has had to deal with many losses of dragon keepers even though he says “Humans seem to live such a short life” and on top of that when he can’t hibernate well… he is going to have a long, cold, lonely winter without the warmth and company of his passed keeper. In the dragon keeper series this book sits at the front of the line then Dragon Keeper, Garden of the Purple Dragon, Dragon Moon, Blood Brothers etc. I have read Dragon Keeper and half of the Garden of the Purple Dragon and they are great books. I recommend this book to people in Year 5 and above in school who know some or most about ancient China otherwise this book may perplex readers. I rate this book 10/10! Boy by Phil Cummings
Reviewed by Years 3-6, BPS What can one small boy do to make a big difference? Boy is a story that will give readers the warm fuzzies. It tells the story of a dragon and a king in the olden days who don’t get along; and a young boy who communicates with his dancing hands. Boy is oblivious to what is going on with the king and dragon around him … he is in his own world but he is happy and content. He helps the king and the dragon with a ‘misunderstanding.’ Boy was our favourite character because he was kind and gentle and overcame his communication challenges to bring people (and dragons!) together. We really enjoyed this story and its connection to Auslan (which we learn at school) and that Boy was able to problem solve with a strong, but simple question. Phil Cummings’ words and expressions helped us to visualise the story, and Shane Devries’ pictures were on point. We recommend that children in primary schools read this book to enjoy and learn together. It is a story that invites people into Deaf culture and to appreciate and include the Deaf community in everything that we do. We rate this story 10/10! |
